Bhubaneswar: Rain may lash the state the next 24 hours as the upper air cyclonic circulation created a low pressure area in Northwest Bay of Bengal off North Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal around 8.30 am on Saturday.
“Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of coastal Odisha and heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of interior Odisha,” the latest bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
This system is likely to cause rain or thundershowers at most places in Odisha. Gusty surface wind from Northwesterly direction with speed reaching 35-40 kmph gusting to 45 kmph is likely to prevail along and off Odisha coast. As the sea condition would be moderate to rough, the fishermen are advised to be cautious while venturing into sea, it said.
Meanwhile, most places of the state received light to moderate rainfall during the last 24 hours. While Cuttack recorded 45 mm rainfall, Sundargarh received 36 mm followed by Puri at 30 mm, it added.
