New Delhi: Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chairperson Swati Maliwal was dragged by a car for about 10-15 metres near AIIMS.
According to Delhi Police, the incident took place around 3.10 am when Swati’s hand got stuck in the car’s window, opposite gate 2 of AIIMS.
Harish Chandra, the driver, suddenly pulled up the car’s glass window when she was rebuking him as he asked her to sit in his car, ANI reported.
Maliwal was out so late inspecting women’s security in the national Capital.
“Late last night I was inspecting the situation of women’s security in Delhi. A driver of a car molested me in a drunken state and when I caught hold of him, he locked my hand in the mirror of the car and dragged me. God saved my life. If the Chairperson of the Women’s Commission is not safe in Delhi, then imagine the situation,” Swati tweeted in Hindi.
The 47-year-old accused, reportedly in an intoxicated state when he catcalled the DCW chief, was detained. An FIR has been registered in the case, police said.
