Bhubaneswar: Father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi was remembered on his 148th birth anniversary with Governor Dr SC Jamir and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik paying floral tributes at the statue of the great freedom fighter on the premises of Odisha assembly here on Monday.
Several ministers, legislators and other leaders also paid homage to Gandhiji.
Recalling the immense contribution of the Mahatma towards the nation, the Chief Minister said, “Gandhiji had sacrificed everything and even his life for the country’s freedom. His ideologies should be followed by everyone for progress of the state.”
Various events were organised by different social and cultural organizations in the state capital to mark the occasion.
