The state is staring at a heat wave condition in some districts, while a thunderstorm and light rain is likely at a few other places on Thursday.
The Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India, has issued a special bulletin warning of a possible heat wave condition in some parts of Odisha in the coming days. The heat wave condition was likely to prevail over some areas in the districts of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Kalahandi, Bolangir and Nuapada. distrits till 8.30am on Sunday. While asking residents to avoid exposure to heat, it said the heat was tolerable for the general public but could be of moderate health concern for infants and elderly people with chronic diseases.
The Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar has, meanwhile, forecast moderate thunderstorm with light rainfall and lightning with gusty wind speeds reaching 30-40kmph at one or two places over Rayagada district between 4pm to 7pm on Thursday.
