Mumbai: Bombay High Court on Wednesday continued
The stay order on a criminal defamation complaint against actress Alia Bhatt, producers Bhansali Production Private Limited and authors of the film ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ was on Wednesday extended by the Bombay High Court.
The high court had granted an interim stay to Alia, the producers and authors S Hussain Zaidi and Jane Borges in August, reported Bar and Bench.
The defamation complaint had been filed at metropolitan magistrate court by Babuji Shah, who claimed to be the adopted son of Gangubai Kathiawadi.

He had said in his plea that the chapters on Gangubai in the novel ‘The Mafia Queens of Mumbai’ — on which the film is based — were defamatory and tarnished her reputation besides infringing on her right to privacy.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s company, along with Alia and the authors then moved the Bombay HC challenging the issue of summons.
