Bhubaneswar: In order to ensure better coordination between states and the Central government in projects related to mining sector, the Ministry of Steel will host a two-day conference at Konark in Puri district.
According to a release of the ministry, Union Steel Minister Ramchandra Prasad Singh will chair the ‘Conference with Mines and Industry Ministers’ of mineral rich states to be held on February 25 and 26.
The conference aims at offering an opportunity to the states and other stakeholders to present the issues related to
mining leases, environment clearances, forest clearances of ongoing and new mining projects. They will also interact with the Union minister and ministry officials on different subjects in the mining sector.
State governments of Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha and Rajasthan have confirmed their participation in the conference.
Senior officers from Union and state ministries of Steel, Mines and Industries, state and Central public sector undertakings will also be present during the session.
An interactive session on the concerns of secondary steel sector will also be held during the event.
