Bhubaneswar: ArcelorMittal Executive Chairman Lakshmi N Mittal will be visiting Kendrapada, where the proposed 12MTPA steel plant with an investment of more than Rs 50000 crore is to be set up, on Saturday, official sources said.
On March 4, the Odisha government and ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India Limited (AM/NS) signed an MoU for setting up an integrated steel complex in Mahakalapada area of the district in the presence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Mittal at Lokseva Bhavan.

The AM/NS revived its earlier plan to to set up a 12 MTPA mega steel plant in Odisha having won two iron ore mines – Thakurani and Sagasahi- in the state.
In 2013, it had to abandon a project of similar capacity n Keonjhar district with an investment of Rs 40,000 crore for which an MoU was signed in 2006, due to its failure to get suitable land and necessary permits to mine iron ore.
