Bhubaneswar: The capital city saw a steep rise in daily COVID-19 cases with 417 new positives reported in the last 24 hours pushing the aggregate caseload to 90,222.
Bhubaneswar had reported 339 new cases on Tuesday after remaining below 300 for two days.
There has been a rise in quarantine cases against local contacts. Of the new cases, 130 are from quarantine and 287 are local contacts, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation stated in its tweet.
Patia reported the highest of 20 cases, followed by 15 each in Patrapada and Khandagiri, while 11 cases were from IRC Village and 10 from Mancheswar.
Five more patients have succumbed to the disease in the city in the last 24 hours and taking the cumulative toll due to 450.
As many as 376 patients have recovered from the infection while the city has 1,347 active cases.
Till now, 88,404 have recovered from the virus.
