Bhubaneswar: Misbehaviour with doctors, health workers and other medical staff on duty or physically assaulting them will not be tolerated, said the Odisha Police on Wednesday. Stern action will be taken against persons doing so, warned the police.
“Few instances of misbehaviour, manhandling of doctors and health workers have come to the notice of Odisha Police. Doctors and health workers play a crucial role in the fight against coronavirus. In fact, they are the front-line fighters in this war against COVID-19. Their safety and security is the priority of Odisha Police,” said a communique issued by the State Police Headquarters, Cuttack.
The DGP has advised all SPs, DCPs of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack to ensure safety and security of doctors and other health workers.
The SSP/ DCsP have also been advised to take up prompt investigation on the matter after registering FIR against the culprit. It has been decided to appoint a DSP or an officer above ranked officer to supervise the case and submit the chargesheet and the final form within a month.
