Bhubaneswar: A team of Odisha STF has arrested the mastermind of a ganja smuggling racket from Uttar Pradesh.
The STF came to know about the mastermind, Shivnath Singh of Agwar Khas village in Agra, UP, from two ganja smugglers arrested last year.
Police had arrested the two smugglers and seized ganja weighing around 810 kg from a vehicle and incriminating materials from their possession in Machhkund in Koraput district in August, 2021. The arrested persons revealed to the police that the vehicle belonged to Shivnath who was running the racket.
Acting on the information, a team of Odisha STF with help of Uttar Pradesh police conducted a raid on Agwar Khas village on April 21 and arrested Shivnath, an STF released stated on Tuesday.
Shivnath was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate court in Agra for transit remand. With the court’s permission for five-day transit remand, the STF team brought Shivnath to Koraput.
