Baripada: Acting on a tip-off, a Special Task Force team of the Odisha Police, and Forest officials of the Baripada Forest Division undertook a joint raid and apprehended another wildlife criminal named Chagulu alias Tambudu alias Purna Chandra Majhi. Chagulu, son of Late Ramachandra alias Sriram Majhi of Sasangabeda village under Udala police station of Mayurbhanj district was wanted in connection with a case lodged with the STF PS (No. STF PS Case No. 31 dated 14.12.2022 U/s 379/411/120(B) IPC r/w. Section 25/27 Arms Act, 1985 r/w. Section 5 of Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972.
In this case, lodged on December 14, 2022, one tiger skin and other incriminating materials were recovered from the possession of accused Dev Kumar Patra. The above apprehended accused was the main accused, who had procured the Tiger Skin. The accused was arrested on December 30, 2022, and forwarded to the court of SDJM, Udla district in Mayurbhanj.
So far, during the investigation, four accused persons have been arrested and forwarded to the court in the instant case. Further investigation is underway.
