Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch on Thursday sought three-day police remand of five persons, including two women, arrested in connection with smuggling racket in Rayagada.
They will be interrogated to unearth their links with inter-district and interstate criminals.
The accused persons have been identified as Balaram Behera of Bhubaneswar, Ashish Dash of Balanga in Puri, Amulya Kumar Barik of Binjharpur in Jajpur, Laxmi Sabar of Palasa in Andhra Pradesh and Saubhagya Laxmi Behera of Chandrasekharapur in Bhubaneswar.
On December 22 last year, Gunupur police jointly with the forest department conducted raided the bus stand area and recovered a Pangolin, weighing about 10 kg, from a Chevrolet Beat car. The team arrested five persons in this connection and forwarded them to court.
