Chandigarh: A day after announcing his retirement from all forms of the game, Harbhajan Singh hinted he could be joining politics.

Speculation was rife a few days ago when the former Team India off-spinner met Congress’ Punjab chief and former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu.

Refusing to put two and two together about his meeting with Sidhu, Bhajji said he knows politicians of several parties and that he will make an announcement if and when he joins any party.

“I know politicians from every party… Will serve Punjab, maybe via politics or something else. No decision has been taken yet,” Harbhajan was quoted as saying by ANI.

After formally ending his cricket career on Friday, Bhajji said he was not averse to joining politics but a lot of factors had to be taken into consideration before he took a call.

The BJP was reportedly in talks with Harbhajan before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections to to field him from the Amritsar constituency.

Of late, the Congress is said to be upbeat about roping in the former matchwinner before the upcoming Punjab assembly elections.

We’ll get a clear picture in next few days.
