Berhampur: The newborn girl, who was stolen from MKCG Medical College and Hospital here on Saturday, has been rescued by Baidyanathpur police.
Acting on a complaint lodged by the family members of the baby girl, police conducted raids at different places and managed to rescue the child from Kanisi village under Golanthara police limits in the district.
The woman suspected to have stolen the child, has been detained by the cops for interrogation.
However, the child has been kept in the labour room of the hospital.
According to information, Jyoti Nahak of Ramsa Narayanpur under Kabisuryanagar block in Ganjam district and wife of Bhikari Nahak had delivered the baby girl at the hospital on Friday night. Jyoti’s mother took the child for vaccination on Saturday morning after an unidentified woman insisted her for the same. She let the woman hold the baby and went to the counter for an outdoor ticket. On returning, the woman had disappeared with the child.
