‘Stop Me If You Can’: TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee Dares ED, To Skip Summons

Kolkata: Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee has decided to skip Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) summon next week.

The Lok Sabha MP, who said on Thursday that he had been summoned by the ED on October 3, took to microblogging site X today to state that he won’t turn up at central probe agency’s office office and, instead, attend his party’s protest against the Central government in Delhi to demand pending MGNREGA funds.

Chief minister Mamata Banerjee’s nephew, in fact, dared ED to stop him if they can.

“The fight against the deprivation of West Bengal (WB) and its rightful dues shall persist regardless of the obstacles. No force on Earth can hinder my dedication to fight for the people of WB and their fundamental rights. I’ll be in Delhi joining the protest on October 2nd & 3rd. STOP ME IF YOU CAN!” Abhishek wrote.

Abhishek, along with fellow-TMC MPs, MLAs and leaders from districts, will pay their respects to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat on October 2, his birth anniversary, before protesting over non-payment of dues to the West Bengal government.

On October 3, a TMC delegation will meet Union Rural Development minister Giriraj Singh to place before him the issue of non-payment of funds to the state government.
