Bhubaneswar: The Accountant General of Odisha on Friday asked the state government not to spend money on its Biju Yuva Vahini programme.
In a letter, the Deputy Accountant General (DAG) has asked the Youth and Sports Affairs department not to spend the money on the Biju Yuva Vahini if it has no time for an audit of the expenditure made under this programme.
He also asked the department not to make any expenditure until the audit of the budget allocated under the programme is not completed.
It may be mentioned here that the Accountant General had sought details from the state government about the objective of the Biju Yuva Vahini and its source of funding.
According to the AG, the state government was trying to dodge the audit of the budget allocated under Biju Yuva Vahini on the pretext of its busy schedule for the ensuing Hockey Men’s World Cup scheduled to kick off at Kalinga Stadium in the Odisha capital from October 28, and it had informed the AG that it cannot cooperate in the audit work.
