Stormy Weather Affects Train Services In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Train operations have been hampered in Odisha due to stormy weather and thunder on Wednesday. Overhead wire has snapped at some places and signalling system affected, East Coast Railway (ECoR) sources said.

Nor’wester rain lashed several districts of the state this morning, leading to the inconvenience. This has also led to cancellation of train services.

58535/58536 Cuttack-Paradeep-Cuttack Passenger will remain cancelled from both the directions

58436/58435 Cuttack-Bhadrak-Cuttack Passenger will remain cancelled from both the directions

58434 Palasa-Cuttack Passenger will run up to Mancheswar instead of Cuttack

58415 Cuttack-Puri Passenger will originate from Mancheswar instead of Cuttack

58411 Bhubaneswar-Brahmapur Passenger will run up to Balugaon and will return to Bhubaneswar as 58412 Brahmapur-Bhubaneswar Passenger from Balugaon to Bhubaneswar.

Services of 58411/58412 Bhubaneswar-Brahmapur- Bhubaneswar passenger will remain cancelled between Balugaon and Brahmapur from both the directions.

58434 Palasa-Cuttack Passenger and 58415 Cuttack-Puri Passenger will remain cancelled between Mancheswar and Cuttack.

Several trains are also stranded at different railway stations.

58421   Angul-Puri Passenger at Bhubaneswar from 1010hrs

07439 Tata-Kacheguda Special at Mancheswar from 0940hrs

58413 Talcher-Puri Passenger at Mancheswar from 1010hrs

58407 Bhadrak-Bhubaneswar Passenger at Barang from 1003hrs

58416 Puri-Cuttack Passenger at Retang from 0937hrs

58534 Palasa-Cuttack Passenger at Khurda Road from 1053hrs

12704 Secunderabad-Howrah Falaknuma Express at Tapang from 1110hrs

12846 Bangalore Cant-Bhubaneswar Express at Nirakarpur from 1045hrs

58002 Puri-Santragachhi Passenger at Delang from 1050hrs

12815 Puri-New Delhi Nandankanan Express yet to start from Puri

Sources said passengers had a narrow escape after a portion of 33 KV high tension wire fell on Puri-Cuttack Passenger train at Sarakantara near Lingaraj railway station. Fortunately, there was no loss of life as there was no power. As the train was detained at the site for more than two hours, the passengers had to walk from Sarakantara to Lingaraj station completely drenched in rain.

Informing the media about the disruption in train services, ECoR senior Public Relations Officer Nirakar Das said train services in Bhadrak-Puri railway section have been largely affected.

It will at least two hours to resume train services on this route, he added.
