Mumbai: Actress Kangana Ranaut took to her Twitter handle on Thursday to slam streaming platform giant Eros Now for sharing sexually explicit content.
The actress, who seems to be controversy’s favourite child, went on to say that streaming platforms are ‘porn hubs.’
Kangana’s remarks came after Eros Now posted some sexually explicit memes featuring Bollywood actors Ranveer Singh, Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif on its social media platform.
“Let’s have some majama in my pajama,” read one of the memes featuring Ranveer Singh.
Another meme featuring Salman Khan read, “You need a dandi to play dandiya. I have one.”
The ‘Queen’ actress shared some screenshots of the memes and tweeted, “We must preserve cinema as a community viewing theatre experience. It’s more difficult to enthrall large section of audience than sexualize content for personal viewing, digitization of art faces this major crisis, all streaming platforms are nothing but a porn hub. SHAME.”
Soon, netizens also started calling out ‘Eros Now’ for hurting Indian culture and sentiments.
“@ErosNow should take strict legal action and punish those people in their company responsible for abusing #HinduReligion because they are #Enemieswithin who can destroy the company which has contributed a lot to the entertainment industry,” wrote producer Ashoke Pandit.
Following the backlash, Eros Now issued an apology on their official Twitter handle.
“To all those concerned, we at Eros love and respect our cultures equally. It is not and it has never been our intention to hurt anyone’s emotions. We have deleted the concerned posts and we apologize for having offended anybody’s sentiments. Thanking you, Team Eros Now,” they wrote.
