‘Stree 2’ 10th Biggest Hit Of Indian Cinema; Know Others

New Delhi: Amar Kaushik’s directorial ‘Stree 2’, starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, and written by Niren Bhatt, is breaking box office records, becoming the biggest horror-comedy genre film of the country in the first week itself. It is currently the 7th biggest Hindi film of all time and has now entered the list of Top 10 biggest films of Indian Cinema.

The movie minted Rs 291.65 in its first week, Rs 17.5 crore on the 2nd Friday, Rs 33 crore on Saturday, and Rs 42.4 crore on Sunday. On Monday, the collections dipped to Rs 18.5 crore and on Tuesday, despite being a partial holiday on the occasion of Janmashtami, the film was able to mint Rs 11.5 crore, as per early estimates of Sacnilk, thus taking the total collection of the film to Rs 414.55 crore. With this, the film has broken the record for lifetime collection of Rajnikant’s 2.0, which had minted Rs 407.05 crore, and made a smashing entry into the Top 10 list of India’s biggest films by taking the 10th position.

Stree 2 has beaten the records of films like 2.0, Salaar: Part 1-Ceasefire, Avatar: A Way of Water, Dangal and Avengers: Endgame to take the 10th ranking, with Baahubali: on the 9th spot with Rs 421 crore collection and Gadar 2 on the 8th spot with Rs 525.7 crore collection.

On Sunday, the makers Maddock Films shared the film’s latest box office numbers – according to them, Stree 2 has now grossed more than Rs 500 crore worldwide, Hindustan Times reported.

Their caption read, “Stree 2 shatters records with a LEGENDARY and HIGHEST ever 2nd Saturday in history! Thank you to everyone for your continued love and support. Book your tickets now…”

The accompanying poster of the film’s star cast said that Stree 2 had grossed Rs 505 worldwide after 10 days in theatres – it’s India gross stood at Rs 426 crore, while its overseas gross was Rs 78.5 crore. Per the makers, Stree 2 added another Rs 33 crore nett to its box office collection, earning Rs 361 crore nett in India, so far.

The film also features Abhishek Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurrana, and Pankaj Tripathi and has cameo appearances by Varun Dhawan, Akshay Kumar and Tamannaah Bhatia.
