Bhubaneswar: Rainfall activity in Odisha is likely to gradually increase from Saturday with the strengthening of the monsoon flow and anticipated low pressure area, the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre informed.
“The cyclonic circulation over northwest Bay of Bengal and the neighbourhood is likely to intensify into low pressure during the next 24 hours and become more marked in the subsequent 24 hours. Under its influence, widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy falls is likely at one or two places in Odisha from August 6-10,” the MeT office said in its midday bulletin.
Squally weather with surface wind speed reaching 45 to 55 kmph gusting to 65kmph is also likely over west central adjoining northeast Bay of Bengal on August 7 and over along and off Odisha coast, north-west adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal from August 8 morning till August 11. Fishermen have advised not to venture into the sea during this period.
