Rishikesh: Uttarakhand is feeling the monsoon fury.
Rising water levels and strong currents on Monday swept away a metal bridge in the Niti Valley region of the hill state.
A viral video shows a massive volume of water mixed with mud rushing downstream and slamming against the metal bridge in the valley, located in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district.
In a matter of seconds, the sheer force of the water uproots the bridge and pushes it towards the riverbank.
Amid screams from scared onlookers, a truck and an SUV on a road along the river manage to turn away in the nick of time to avoid disaster.

A Border Roads Organisation (BRO) employee was swept away and is still missing, The Daily Jagran reported.
The collapse of the bridge disrupted traffic as the area got cut off from the main town.
Battered by rains over the last few days, Monday afternoon’s heavy outpour caused extensive damage to homes and farmland.
Disaster Management Officer Nand Kishore Joshi said residents living near the fiver have been asked to move to safer locations, as teams from the police, administration, SDRF and NDRF reached the spot to try and restore the situation.
Uttarakhand Disaster Management and Rehabilitation secretary Vinod Kumar Suman said it has been raining non-stop since Sunday night. The affected areas are Dehradun, Bageshwar, Nainital, and Champawat.
“It will rain in the entire state. And the rain will continue continuously. There will be a gap of some time in the evening. After this, like it rained last night, it will rain again like this in the night,” Suman told ANI.
Awareness programmes are being held at landslide-prone areas to ensure locals can take best possible precautions.
