Kendrapada: A college student drowned in Kani river in Kendrapada district on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Ashirbad Nayak (19), a Plus III student of Jajpur College and a resident of Ganeswarpur under Aul block in the district.
According to reports, Nayak slipped into the river while taking bath. He was later swept away by the strong current and drowned.
Some locals fished the body out from the river, police sources informed.
A drowning incident was also reported from Keonjhar district on Tuesday after two boys slipped and fell into a pond while going to a nearby anganwadi centre.
