Cuttack: Celebrations turned into a tragedy as a student died while two others sustained critical injuries after coming in contact with 11kv electric wire while carrying the idol of Lord Ganesh to a private university near Naraj in Odisha’s Cuttack city on Tuesday.
According to sources, the incident took place after around 6-7 students picked the idol from Godisahi Bazaar and were carrying it to the institution in a tractor for celebration of Ganesh Chatruthi. The vehicle got charged after red flag on the idol came in contact with the 11 kv wire inside the campus, killing a student died on the spot. Others on the vehicle also sustained injuries.
The injured were rushed to a private hospital here for treatment, the sources added.
