Dhenkanal: A student of a residential school remains untraced after he went missing while the annual sports meet was going on six days back in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district.
According to the sources, the student, identified as Jena Tiria, son of Ramesh Tiria of Chhotatentuli village under Gondia police limits in the district, was studying in Class VIII of Muliabanka residential school under Badamba police station.
The headmistress of the school said Jena was present on the day of the sports meet on January 6, but has been missing since then. The school authorities have filed a missing case in the police station.
The police have registered a case and started a search operation to trace Jena. But they have not succeeded in finding him.
Meanwhile, his family accused the school authorities of negligence. They said since it is a residential school, they were responsible to keep track of Jena.
The school headmistress in-charge Anima Mohapatra said they were also unaware about the whereabouts of Jena. He had told his friends that he would go on some work to somewhere. But they could not say the place he intended to go, she added.
