Sonepur: Life came to a standstill in Sonepur district on Monday owing to a 12-hour bandh called by students of Sonepur College to press for their three-point charter of demands.
Most educational institutions, government and private offices either remained closed or witnessed low attendance. Vehicles also stayed off the road, causing great inconvenience to commuters.
The agitators staged road blockades and picketed at several places.
“We demand immediate removal of the principal as the college has witnessed several irregularities during his tenure”, a student alleged.
The members of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) also extended solidarity to the students’ protest.
