Balasore: Tension prevailed on the premises of Kamarda Surendranath Institute of Higher Technical College at Kamarda of Balasore district over inauguration of a new building by higher education minister Ananta Das on Wednesday.
However, no injury was reported in the clash.
According to sources, the clash broke out after members of a group of students opposed the visit of the minister, who had gone to inaugurate a new building inside the premises of the educational institution.
Following the incident, police rushed to the spot and managed to pacify the members of both the groups.
However, the minister was unable to inaugurate the building. The exact reason behind the incident is yet to be ascertained.
Adequate police personnel have been deployed on the premises of the college to prevent further escalation of tension.
