Bhubaneswar: The students of a coaching centre had a narrow escape as the bus in which they were travelling met with an accident in Bhubaneswar on Friday.
As per reports, the accident took place when the bus, carrying the students of the coaching centre was returning to Hanspal. As the bus reached Acharya Vihar Square, it hit the road median after the driver lost control while overtaking another vehicle.
The students got panic by the rash driving and told the driver to stop the bus. The driver parked the vehicle on roadside and sat down under a tree. On being informed, a team from Sahidnagar police station rushed to the spot and detained the driver who was reportedly in inebriated condition.
The bus, which has been damaged on the side, has also been seized by the police.
The students told the media that the driver was unable to drive since the bus left the coaching centre. “He was drunk and was driving in careless manner from the coaching centre. He had hit the parking lot in the centre. On the road also he was driving carelessly,” they said.
