Jharsuguda: Normal life was disrupted in Odisha’s Jharsuguda on Monday due to a dawn-to-dusk shutdown called by an organisation of students demanding concrete steps for strengthening educational facilities in the district.
While shops, markets and other commercial establishments remained shut during the 12-hour bandh, vehicular movement remained unaffected in the district. Bandh supporters were seen picketing at several places.
Security has been tightened with adequate deployment of police force in different parts of the district as part of measures to prevent any untoward incident during the strike, sources said.
Different associations and social organisations have extended support to the strike which was called over poor state of affairs of higher education in the district in the absence of a government college.
