Berhampur: Six students from NIST at Berhampur in Odisha’s Ganjam district have won the Smart India Hackathon 2023.
The Hackathon was organised by the Ministry of Education at Rungta College of Engineering and Technology, Bhillai in Chhattisgarh on December 19-20. The competition aimed at igniting innovation among students by providing a platform to tackle real-world challenges faced by industries and government.
Out of 500 entries from across the country, ‘Team Glastrier’ and ‘Destination Designer’ of NIST, Berhampur were selected in the top 5 category under software edition of the competition.
Team Destination Designers, comprising 2nd Year students from the BTech CSE programme, including Gaurav Tiwari, Abhimanyu Kumar, U Sriya Reddy, Payal Bhattamisra, K Sai Kalyan and Rudransh Dash came out victorious in the grand finale of the Smart India Hackathon.
With a focus on fostering problem-solving skills and collaboration, the Hackathon aims to drive digital transformation, bridging the gap between academia and industry for a stronger, future-ready workforce.
The students showcased an innovative idea with the potential to significantly enhance the current landscape of the tourism industry. Their comprehensive approach encompassed a wide spectrum within the travel and tourism domain, including aspects such as hotels, travel logistics, and others.
