Bhubaneswar: Guardians should not send their children to schools which do not have certification of recognition (CoR) in accordance with Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009 and Odisha Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Rules, 2010.
Speaking at a convention organised by Odisha Abhibhabak Mahasangha, Minister for School and Mass Education Samir Ranjan Dash said “Schools lacking CoR cannot send their students for admission into Navodaya or Adarsh Vidyalayas.”
Children studying in the schools that do not have a certification of recognition (CoR) will not be provided admission in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas or Adarsh Vidyalayas under the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) quota.
The Abhibhabak Mahasangha had earlier requested the Minister to revise the rule for admission into Navodaya and Adarsh schools across the State. Dash had turned down the proposal to amend the admission norms.
As per the RTE norms, any person who establishes or runs a school without obtaining certificate of recognition or continues to run a school shall be liable to fine which may extend to one lakh rupees and in case of continuing contraventions to five of ten thousand rupees for each day during which such contravention continues.
Higher Education Minister Arun Sahoo said the role of parents is vital in implementation of education policy laid down by the government.
Among others, Odisha Parent’s Federation chairman, Basudev Bhatta, co-chairperson Prasanna Bisoi and Rajya Sabha member and Raghunath Mohapatra were present.
