Baripada: Fed up with the repeated harassment by authorities, over 100 girl students of SSD Residential High School at Balidiha in Mayurbhanj district trudged around 30 kms to meet the district collector and apprise him of their grievance.

The students of Class V and Class X alleged that they have been facing a lot of problems in consuming food under midday meal scheme due to certain irregularities by the authorities and were being sexually harassed by the headmaster of the school. They also alleged that the school authorities turned a deaf ear to their issues.

However, due to absence of the collector, the students apprised the District education Officer (DWO) about their issues.

Soon after the incident, orders were issued for suspension of the concerned headmaster.

In a similar incident, nearly 400 students of Karanjia Girls’ High School also marched more than 10 km to meet Karanjia sub-collector over various problems faced by them in the school.
