Bhubaneswar: The board exam season is here and all Class X, XII students are preparing for it. The COVID pandemic may have marred the routine process of education but the teachers and their pupils have been working relentlessly to put in their best.

To boost the confidence of Class X students, the School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash advised them not to fear the exam. He advised the students to dedicate a few extra hours to studies to increase the chances of success.

The annual High School Certificate (HSC) examination is a little over two months and the children should prepare a time-table and follow it religiously.

He suggested dividing 24 hours into 14:4:6 ratio. Students should dedicate 14 hours in a day for studies, four hours for ancillary works and the rest 6 hours for a good sleep between 10 pm and 4 am or 11 pm to 5 am. Late nights should be avoided, he suggested.

The Minister said preparations for exams have not changed much over the generations. “Even during our times we used to study for at least 14 to 15 hours a day and the nap time and night sleep combined was somewhere around 4-5 hours. This (matric exam) is considered a student’s first big step, so they should take the exams seriously. Hard work will help the children in moving forward in life,” said Dash.

Go through the sample papers for better understanding of subjects and exam pattern, he added.

The Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha will conduct the matric exam from May 3 to May 15. Similarly, Madhyama Sanskrit examination will be held between May 3 and May 12 and for Odisha Open School, the exams are from May 3 to May 15.
