Amravati: Horrified to find out that she had scored 0/720 in the NEET examination, medical college aspirant Vasundhara Bhojane, from Amravati, has moved the Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court for re-evaluation of answer papers.
Emphasizing that Vasundhara was expecting more than 600 marks, her counsel Ashwin Deshpande contended she had an excellent academic record with 93.4% in 10th standard and 81.9% in 12th and would have probably got zero in NEET due to some technical glitch.
Bhojane’s counsel also demanded directives to National Testing Agency (NTA) to produce the original of her OMR before the court and an interim stay on medical admission process pending her petition.
A division bench of justices Atul Chandukar and Nitin Suryavanshi issued notices to the respondents, including NTA, to file a response before the next hearing and fixed October 26 as date for the final disposal of the petition.
Another student, who scored 212, filed a petition contending that the marks she was credited with were much less than what she had calculated from OMR sheets.
NTA director-general Vineet Joshi asserted that all claims have been verified after results were announced last week.
“Even now students are allowed to check OMR sheets… No claim made so far has been proved right. They can file a further affidavit if the court says so,” Joshi said.
The students’ claims should be treated seriously because in an extremely competitive exam like NEET, every mark can make an impact on all India rank, and, subsequently, admission to colleges.
