Bhubaneswar: Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) on Friday asked
Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrat Bhoi to conduct a thorough inquiry into the
much-hyped DAV girl student case and accordingly submit a report
within three weeks.
The next hearing on the case is due on December 26.
On Wednesday, the statements of DAV Business Management (DSBM)student
Tanya Banerjee’s mother Keya Banerjee was recorded at Capital police
station here. She alleged that physical and mental torture meted by
some hostel inmates forced her daughter to commit suicide and demanded
strict action against those responsible.
Earlier on December 5, the victim’s post-mortem received by twin
cities Commissionerate Police had revealed that she died of
suffocation after hanging herself.
The girl was found hanging in her hostel room on November 28.
