Puri: Pandal hopping has begun and people from all over Odisha are celebrating Durga Puja festivities. On Puri beach, sand artist of international repute Sudarsan Pattnaik created a sculpture of the goddess on Sunday coinciding with Maha Saptami.
The sand art in his signature style has been created using 12 different types of fruits, including grapes, bananas, apples and pineapple, reflecting the rituals followed on Maha Asthami, the following day, when people observe fast.
“Wishing all peace and prosperity! Happy Durga Puja. My latest SandArt on Maa Durga with installation of 12 different Fruits at Puri beach, Odisha,” he tweeted.
The five days of festivities observed as Shashthi, Saptami, Ashtami, Navami, and Vijayadashami, started on October 1 and will culminate on October 5, which is also when we will be celebrating Dussehra.
