Sudarsan Pattnaik Extends Best Wishes To Team India For Barabati ODI With Sand Art

Cuttack: After a clinical 4-wicket win, India will be looking to seal the three-match series against England in the 2nd ODI at Barabati Stadium in Odisha’s Cuttack on Sunday.

The match is scheduled to begin at 1.30 pm with the toss at 1 pm.

Noted sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has created a sculpture wishing good luck to Team India on Puri beach.

Team India has a formidable record in ODIs in Cuttack, having won 13 of 17 matches played at the venue. The Men in Blue also take strength from the fact that they have remained unbeaten here since 2003, winning last seven games.

India posted 381 runs during the last face off with England, which replied with 366,  at this venue. The 2019 ODI against West Indies also saw India successfully chase down a score of 316. A run-fest could be on the cards once again.

The toss could play a role as conditions suggest that it would be advantageous to bowl first with the possibility of dew during the second half of the game. Teams here have been more successful batting second, winning 12 out of 19 matches. Spinner are also could play a key role in determining the outcome of the match.

With an ODI being played at the Barabati after a gap of 6 years, the Odisha Cricket Association’s (OCA) on Saturday opened a part of the stands for fans to watch India at the nets, for free and the loudest cheers from the 20,000-plus crowd were reserved for Virat Kohli, who missed the first ODI in Nagpur due to a sore right knee.

While Kohli is expected return to the playing XI, Rohit Sharma’s form will be concern in Cuttack as he got out for 2 runs off 7 balls in the opener.
