Sukinda ‘Gang Rape’ Case: BJP Gives 48 Hours Ultimatum For Arrest Of Accused

Jajpur: BJP workers on Thursday gheraoed Sukinda police station in Jajpur district, demanding immediate arrest of the youths involvement in the alleged gang rape of a girl the previous evening.

They threatened to intensify the stir if the accused are not arrested in 48 hours.

Notably, the incident came to fore after the girl’s father lodged a complaint at Sukinda police station on Wednesday evening, naming a relative of a former Minister and another youth for the alleged crime.

According to the complaint, two youths dragged the girl into a four-wheeler while she was manning her father’s shop and raped her at a secluded place near Duburi. They then took her to the house of another youth, who is said be a relative of the political leader. The duo thrashed her and took turns to rape her.

They later dropped her near her house.

Following the incident, irate locals had gheraoed the police station late on Wednesday and demanded immediate arrest of the accused.

Meanwhile, police have registered a case and started investigation.
