Bhubaneswar: With the northward advance of southwest monsoon stalled since May 29, Odisha may continue to experience hot and humid weather conditions till June 6, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Monday.
The northern limits of monsoon continues to pass through Mumbai, Ahilyanagar (Maharashtra); Adilabad (Telangana); Bhawanipatna and Puri (Odisha) and Sandheads (West Bengal).
The weather agency has issued yellow warning for Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati from June 2-6. Light to moderate rain may occur at some places in South Odisha during this period.
According to senior meteorologist Umasankar Das, clear skies have led to a rise in temperature and increased humidity in various places in the state.
By 8.30 am on Monday, the mercury levels in Bhubaneswar had touched 33 degree Celsius with humidity at 55.4%. The temperature soared to 38.4 degree Celsius in Balasore and 37.4 degree Celsius in Bhubaneswar by 11.30 am. Hirakud recorded 37 degree Celsius, followed by Chandbali and Sambalour at 36.6 degree Celsius each, Jharsuguda at 36.4 degree Celsius and Paradip at 36.2 degree Celsius.
