Bhubaneswar: These are the trying times for families of COVID positive persons admitted to hospital as well as the doctors. As the family members have no access to the patient their worries are but normal.

In such a scenario, the treating teams at SUM COVID Hospital and SUM Ultimate Medicare have been extending yeoman services to the family members of patients by helping them to be in touch with each them on regular basis.

Pradip Kumar Madhup, a senior officer with RITES-Jharsuguda, is thankful to the health teams of the health facility for keeping his family updated about the health status.

After testing COVID positive, Madhup was initially admitted in the MCL Hospital at Jharsuguda and then to SUM COVID Hospital here. When he was wheeled into the ICU, none of his family members were with him.

In fact, his family members are residing in Patna and were also infected by the disease. They were under treatment in the Bihar capital.

One of his relatives, living in Singapore, was in constant touch with the hospital help desk and was provided all information about the patient.

After 12 days, he was shifted to SUM Ultimate Medicare where he was treated under the care of Senior Consultant in Pulmonary Medicine and critical care unit team. He was discharged from the hospital on Monday (June 7).

“When I was brought to SUM Covid Hospital, there was no family member with me. They were far away from me. But the care and treatment I received from doctors, nurses and para-medics of both the hospitals, SUM COVID and SUM Ultimate Medicare has given me a new lease of life,” said Madhup after being discharged from the hospital.

His relative based in Singapore, Kumar Anand also thanked both the hospitals making a special mention about the cooperation he received from the help desk.

Another patient, Priymabada Das (59) had a similar experience to recount. She was also brought to SUM COVID Hospital after being infected and was subsequently treated at the SUM Ultimate Medicare.

Her son Sambhab Das, who lives in Melbourne, was worried about her condition. The help desk in both hospitals provided him all information till she was discharged from the hospital a month ago. Das has expressed his appreciation and gratefulness to the teams who treated his mother.
