Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Tuesday extended summer vacation for all government and private schools till June 25.
School and Mass Education Department Secretary Pradipta Kumar Mahapatra told Odisha Bytes that the decision to extend the vacation was taken in view of the prevailing heat wave conditions across the state.
The schools will reopen on June 26, he added.
While a few schools had reopened after two-month-long vacation on Monday, others were scheduled to start classes on Wednesday (June 19).
There had been talks about summer vacation being extended like previous year, but the government had earlier dismissed them as rumours.
In 2018, the vacation was extended till June 23 and re-extended further to June 25 due to scorching heat.
