Bhubaneswar: ‘Nebula Nomads’, one of the ten teams, that participated in the first ever annual sports meet conducted by the SUM Ultimate Medicare (SUMUM), emerged champions as the competition closed on Christmas day.
Odisha’s Minister of State for Home, Electronics and IT, Sports and Youth Services, Tusharkanti Behera underlined the importance of sport describing it as an integral part of human life at the closing ceremony of the five-day ‘Sumumnoya-2023.’ Institutions and organisations should also conduct such sporting events as it is not only the key to health and fitness but also helps inculcate integrity, unity and discipline, he said.
Behera said the Odisha government was trying to provide a push to different sports and was promoting Kho Kho in a big way.
Dr Swetapadma Dash, Chief Executive Officer of SUMUM, said unity, sportsmanship and enthusiasm are the cornerstones of any thriving community.
Doctors, nurses, and other employees of the hospital took part in a cluster of events including cricket, volleyball, badminton, 100 meters sprint, carom, musical chair, Three Legged Race, and Lemon and Spoon Race in which ‘Nebula Nomads’ emerged winners.
The other participating teams were Arora Avengers, Phoenix Phantoms, Fusion Force, Celestial Crushers, Zenith Zilts, Galaxy Gladiators, Quantum Quashers, Swift Strikers and Rogue Riders.
