Sundargarh: Abhishek Shukla, a differently-abled cricketer from Rajgangpur in Odisha’s Sundargarh district, has been selected in the Indian divyang team.
Announcing the squad, Board of Disabled Cricket Association (BDCA) informed that the Indian team will play against Bangladesh.
“I have been selected for Test, one-day and T20 series,” said Abhishek, who took part in a training-cum-selection camp in Hyderabad earlier this month.
Abhishek thanked his family and club members for helping him realize the ambition of becoming a cricketer.
“I used to practice in our cricket club. My seniors helped me a lot and guided me to develop as a player. I participated in a camp in Hyderabad for four days from August 2. I was selected after going through physical test, as well as bowling, batting and fielding tests,” said Abhishek.
Sangram Keshari Das, secretary of Rajgangpur team, was all praise for Abhishek.
“He is a very good player and practices a lot to achieve perfection,” Das said.
He added that it took time for Abhishek to fulfil his potential because of financial problems.
“Hope he will play well for India and bring glory to our country,” Das said.
