Mumbai: Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty often takes to social media to express love for his 15-month-old granddaughter, Evaarah, and shares adorable stories about her.
In an interview with Times Now, the actor revealed that the toddler has a unique morning ritual — she offers a laddoo to a photograph of Prime Minister Narendra Modi every day.
Sharing the story behind the ritual, Suniel said Evaarah was first introduced to PM Modi by her nanny during an encounter at an airport.
Since then, the toddler has developed a special fondness for him, making the gesture a part of her daily routine.
“I have always said I am a huge fan
of him (Modi). I am not talking about a party; I am talking about a leader. If a leader excites me, he excites me. As much as I love my country, I love my man. There is something about him. My granddaughter is 15 months old. Once, at the airport, one of her nannies told her about Modi ji. Now, every morning, she opens a Sai Baba book which also has a photo of Modi ji,” Suniel said.
“She opens that photo and says, ‘Modi ji’. Woh Ganapati ji ki murti se ladoo leke aati hai aur unko khilaati hai (She takes a ladoo from the Ganpati idol at home and offers it to the photograph). I did not ask her to do this, nor did her parents. There is something about him. There is something magical,” Suniel added.
Athiya Shetty and Team India batter KL Rahul welcomed Evaarah on March 24, 2025.
The couple later introduced her to the world on Rahul’s birthday by revealing her name and sharing that it means ‘Gift of God.’
On the work front, Suniel’s latest release ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ hit theatres on June 26.
The film opened to mixed reviews from critics and audiences, and collecting Rs 18 crore domestically.
Helmed by Ahmed Khan, the film features Akshay Kumar, Rajpal Yadav, Paresh Rawal, Arshad Warsi, Raveena Tandon, Disha Patani and Jacqueline Fernandez, among others.
