Bengaluru: Nineteen days after amassing the highest ever total in IPL, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) surpassed themselves on Monday evening.
Up against a struggling Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Sunrisers Hyderabad piled up a mind-boggling 287/3 in their quota of 20 overs.
SRH had posted 277/3 against Mumbai Indians at their home ground on March 27.
Interestingly, the top 3 totals in IPL history have all been notched up during the ongoing 17th season of the T20 league (see List below).
Opener Travis Head led the carnage, plundering 102 off 41 balls. The Aussie opener, who shared a 108-run first-wicket stand with fellow-southpaw Abhishek Sharma, clobbered 9 fours and 8 sixes.
After Head’s dismissal in the 13th over, South African duo of Heinrich Klaasen (67 off 31, 2×4, 7×6) and Aiden Markram (32 not out off 17, 2×4, 2×6) continued the assault on RCB bowlers.
Desi talent Abdul Samad, an exciting 22-year-old right-hander from Jammu & Kashmir, provided the icing on the cake with a 10-ball unbeaten 37 which included 4 fours and 3 sixes.
