Bhubaneswar: Two days after police accused Silsila Behera of hiring a contract killer to eliminate her husband, she threatened to file a defamation suit for tarnishing her image.
Speaking to a local news channel, Silsila said that she had left her husband’s home on March 26, 2020, after four attempts by him to kill her and their son. “He was a threat to my son, so I left his place. Since our wedding on November 26, 2003, there was discord in our martial life and it was never a smooth affair,” she said.
She further alleged that her husband, Binayak Behera, had numerous affairs and she and her son had once caught him red-handed in Puri. “I also reported the matter to Railway Protection Force, which dissuaded me against filing a case as it would then affect his job,” she claimed.
Binayak works as a senior section engineer at Mancheswar Railway Workshop.

According to police release, Binayak had a close shave after being attacked by his driver Ashok Sahu along with contract killer, Jitendra Pradhan, and a few of his aides near the Sports Complex at Mancheswar while he was going on an evening walk on April 16. Following this, he lodged a complaint with Mancheswar police.
After arresting Ashok and Jitendra, police said that Silsila had hired the contract killer for Rs 1 lakh after her husband got a whiff of her affair with the driver, who belongs to Hatatota in Angul.
Ashok had also reportedly confessed to the crime.
