Super Speciality Hospital In Rourkela To Benefit Three States

Rourkela: On a tour to the Steel City, President Dr Ram Nath Kovind on Sunday inaugurated special speciality hospital and Ispat Post Graduate Institute here.

The 200-bed hospital with facilities for Neurology, Neuro Surgery, Cardiology, Cardio Thoracic & Vascular Surgery and Nephrology has state-of-the-art medical equipment like MRI 3 Tesla, CT scan 256 slices, 2 Cath Labs (uniplane & biplane) and CRRT machine with five modular operation theatres.

Stating that health and education are the two main pillars of good governance, he said the super speciality hospital will generate a number of direct and indirect employment and apart from catering to 6 lakh people of Rourkela, it will also benefit the people of the neighbouring Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand states.

On his visit to the steel city, the President said that the name of Rourkela is quite inspiring.

“The meaning of Rourkela in the local Sadri dialect your village. The meaning of ‘Rour’ is ‘your’ and ‘Kela’ is ‘village’. If you say that I have come to ‘Rourkela’, you say you have come to ‘my village’ and I feel proud for having such a privilege,” he pointed out.

Among others, Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Sundargarh MP Jual Oram and Health and Family Welfare minister Naba Kishore Das were present on the occasion.
