Bhubaneswar: Another nonagerian was wheeled out of the SUM COVID hospital here on Wednesday after recovering from the dreaded coronavirus.
This time, it was 99-year-old Muralidhar Das of Shahid Nagar area of the capital city.
Das was admitted to the hospital on May 9 for COVID treatment. He had co-morbidities like hypertension, diabetes and Parkinson’s disease, and had also suffered a stroke earlier.
Considering his age and health conditions, he was obviously a high-risk patient. Doctors, nurses and para-medics took extra care of the senior citizen.
He responded well to the treatment and was discharged from the hospital after 10 days.
The treating team had developed a special bond with Das, who could not speak clearly. The doctors, nurses and other staff were delighted when he was discharged.
Two female COVID patients, aged 98 and 90 years, respectively, were treated successfully at the hospital and discharged in the last few days.
