Bhadrak: In a bizarre incident, the villagers of Odisha’s Bhadrak district resorted to black magic and used a wooden table for catching a thief in their village.
As per reports, following a robbery at Gangadhar Behera’s house in Asura village of Bhadrak on February 16, 2020, a complaint was lodged at the nearest police station. When the police failed in nabbing the thief, the villagers approached a sorcerer in Keonjhar who instructed them to use a wooden table and chant mantras to locate the thief.
Mahendra Padhi, an associate of the sorcerer said, “Our master chants some mantras over phone while we perform the task here.”
On being intimated about the superstitious activity, police immediately reached the spot and an investigation is underway.
Speaking about this irrational act, rationalist Debendra Sutar said, “If thieves could be caught by using tables, then Osama Bin Laden would have been nabbed easily at a glance. This method is absolutely bizarre and baseless.”
