Supreme Court Finds Fault With Report On Jagannath Temple Reforms

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday expressed displeasure over the report submitted by the Jagannath Temple Managing Committee on shrine reforms. The court also directed the committee to submit an additional report in accordance with the amicus curiae’s note in two weeks .

The court will have the next hearing on this matter after four weeks.

Talking to the media here, the counsel of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), Swetaketu Mishra, said that the temple committee failed to provide the details regarding the land and the stone quarry in other states, which are recorded in the name of Lord Jagannath.

“As the amicus curiae Ranjit Kumar pointed out that the report is inclusive, we requested the apex court to give more time to furnish the details of the records of these lands and stone quarries. The court directed us to submit an additional report with details of these two aforesaid subjects in accordance with the note of the amicus curiae in two weeks,” Mishra said.

He also informed that the apex court will announce the exact date of the next hearing later.
