New Delhi: The health ministry said that Supreme Court judges willing to take the COVID-19 vaccine won’t be given a choice between Covishield and Covaxin, rather the process would be entirely through the Co-Win platform.

The judges will take the jab at the government facility inside the court premises which would be a CGHS dispensary, the health ministry said.

It was reported earlier that the top court judges would have the option of choosing between Covaxin and Covishield vaccines.

Meanwhile, the top court in February agreed to hear a PIL that sought the inclusion of judges, judicial staff and lawyers in the priority category for COVID-19 vaccine administration.

A bench comprising Chief Justice SA Bobde and Justices AS Bopanna and V Ramasubramanian posted the petition filed by an advocate for further hearing after two weeks.

“The purpose of the petition is to ensure that Judges, lawyers, court staff and the staff of the lawyers, who are also providing one of the ‘essential services’ in the form of Judicial Administration, are included in the priority category of the group of the population for the administration of COVID-19 vaccine,” the plea said.
